George A. Gillespie, B Tech, CA

George graduated from Ryerson University in 1977 and obtained his Chartered Accountant designation with the firm in 1979. He has been a Partner with the firm since 1983 and is currently the Administrative Partner for the firm.

George’s clients represent a variety of audit and accounting assignments for commercial and particularly not-for-profit organizations with a special emphasis on educational institutions.

George is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario’s Practice Inspection Committee, which enables George to keep abreast of the many changes currently being implemented within the C.A. profession.

George’s participation in community activities includes being a founding Board member and currently the Vice-Chairman of the Greater Peterborough Community Futures Development Corporation. Previously, George served on the Board of Volunteers Information Peterborough and was an active coach and executive member in Peterborough’s minor hockey system.

Eric J. Steinmiller, HBA, CA, TEP

Eric, a graduate of the University of Western Ontario School of Business Administration, obtained his Chartered Accountant designation in 1982. He is a former tax manager with Ernst & Young and a member of both the Canadian Tax Foundation and Society of Trust and Estate practitioners. He has been a partner with McColl Turner since 1990.

Eric has completed the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants In-Depth Tax Courses, a three-year comprehensive training program to become a taxation specialist. He attends annual seminars and does extensive reading of publications on current tax issues so as to maintain a high level of tax expertise. In addition to directing our income tax compliance services, Eric devotes much of his time to tax planning matters for individuals, businesses, trusts and estates.

Eric has developed strong working relationships with other professionals in the community. He is also consulted by other accountants in smaller practices, who wish to access his expertise to provide tax services to their clients.

Eric is a frequent speaker at seminars presented by various local organizations and financial institutions. He has also authored articles concerning tax and estate planning matters in local publications.

Eric’s community involvement has included Treasurer of the Greater Peterborough Chamber of Commerce and President of the Peterborough Estate Planning Council. Currently he remains a member of the Peterborough Estate Planning Council and the Rotary Club of Peterborough.

William R. Blair, B COMM, CA.CBV

Bill is a graduate of Queen’s University and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Peat Marwick (now KPMG) in 1984. Prior to joining the firm, Bill obtained valuable experience in matters relating to insolvency, business valuation and business investigations and earned the designation as a Chartered Business Valuator. Bill was admitted to the partnership in 1993.

Bill maintains a varied practice of audit, accounting and taxation for a diverse clientele of businesses, not-for-profit organizations and individuals. In addition, he provides business valuation and related services, as they are required for corporate reorganizations, family law settlements and the resolution of pricing issues for privately held businesses.

In a volunteer capacity, Bill currently serves as the Chair of the Major Gifts Division of the Capital Campaign for the new Peterborough Family YMCA and he is actively involved in coaching and managing boys minor hockey. Bill’s past community involvement has included serving as Treasurer of the Kawartha Rotary Club, Finance Chair of the 1998 Ontario Winter Games and President of the United Way of Peterborough & District.

Bill is an avid triathlete, having competed in numerous swim, bike and run events at different distances including the Canadian and World Ironman Triathlon Championships. He maintains an active lifestyle through his athletic pursuits.

John A. West, BAS, CA

John graduated from Trent University in 1983. Obtaining his practical experience with the firm, he received his C.A. designation in 1987 and joined the partnership in 1999.

John provides audit, accounting and tax services to a variety of commercial enterprises, not-for-profit organizations and individuals.

John’s sense of community is demonstrated by his continued involvement with Hospice Peterborough, Peterborough Festival of Trees, and St. Stephens Church. He has also acted as Finance Chair for the City of Peterborough’s Celebration 2000 Steering Committee.

Marie J. Dietrich, B COMM (HONS), CA

A graduate of Queen's University in 1998, Marie commenced her professional career with the entrepreneurial services group at Ernst & Young LLP in Toronto. Following her success in the 1999 Uniform Final Examination, Marie joined McColl Turner early in 2000 to complete the necessary practical experience requirements to obtain her C.A. designation, which she obtained in 2001.

Marie has been providing accounting, auditing and tax services to a wide variety of our clients.

Marie supports the community in her role as a member of the Finance Committee for the United Way of Peterborough & District.

Meghann L. Agnew, BBA (HONS), CA

A graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University Honours Business Administration Co-op program in 2002, Meghann joined McColl Turner full time in 2003 after completing all of her co-op work terms at our office. She obtained her CA designation in 2004.

Meghann has been providing accounting, auditing and tax services to a wide variety of our clients with a special emphasis on the not-for-profit sector.

Meghann currently volunteers with the Peterborough Community Counseling and Resource Centre as Treasurer. In her spare time, Meghann enjoys travelling.

Donald J. Jackett, CA

Don obtained his Chartered Accountant designation in 1963 and has been a partner with the firm since 1971.

He has amassed a wealth of experience during his career providing valued advice to a wide variety of businesses and their owners, not-for-profit organizations and individuals. Don's practice covers all areas of public accounting including audit and accounting assignments and the taxation of individuals, corporations and estates.

He has volunteered in a number of capacities with various not-for-profit organizations in the area including The United Way of Peterborough and District, The Canadian National Institute for the Blind, The Peterborough Foundation and the Little Lake Cemetery Company. Don has also done committee work with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario.

An active sports enthusiast, Don maintains his fitness by playing old timers hockey in the winter and golf in the summer.

Robert D. Martin, BA, CA, CFP

Bob, a graduate of the University of Western Ontario, has been with the firm since 1973. Prior to joining McColl Turner, Bob qualified as a C.A. with Deloitte, Haskins & Sells.

Bob's practice focuses on the accounting and tax needs of individuals, professionals and owner-managed businesses. Having obtained his Certified Financial Planner designation in 1999, Bob is now concentrating his practice on taxation of individuals, estates, financial planning and consulting.

Bob has supported many local activities. Presently, he is a board member with the Peterborough Regional Health Centre Foundation.

Marilyn J. Feige, B MATH, CA

Marilyn is a University of Waterloo graduate who qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1985 while working with Wilkinson & Co. Marilyn completed the CICA In-Depth Income Tax Course while with Ernst & Young and she was the Manager, Canadian Tax with Inglis Canada. Since joining McColl Turner early in 2000 she has completed the CICA In-Depth GST Course Part I. A member of the Canadian Tax Foundation, Marilyn joined the partnership in 2007.

Marilyn provides audit, accounting and income tax services to businesses, individuals and not-for-profit organizations. She also provides estate accounting and income tax services to estates and trusts. In addition, Marilyn provides commodity tax advice to the firm’s clients.

Marilyn’s community involvement has including volunteering with several local sporting groups in a financial role.

Brad J. Collyer, BBA (HONS), CA

A graduate of the Wilfrid Laurier University Honours Business Administration program in 1996, Brad obtained his C.A. designation in 1999 with BDO Dunwoody LLP. Prior to joining McColl Turner in 2004, Brad was an audit manager with Pricewaterhouse Coopers. Brad joined the partnership in 2009.

Brad’s in-depth knowledge of accounting guidelines and financial reporting requirements has been developed from providing accounting, auditing and tax services for clients in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors.

Brad enjoys being active in the community and currently sits on the Board for St. John Ambulance. He has also been involved with the local chapter of Ducks Unlimited. In addition to his participation in men’s hockey leagues throughout the year, Brad’s sporting interests include golf in the summer and hunting.
